Have you had a chance to check out Creative Publishing by Cathy Chavez? At this site, Cathy Chavez, a respected leader in Educational Technology, has tons of great resources for creating cool books with students in the classroom. For instance, on her home page, you can find resources and templates for making an accordian book, book in a box, character book, circle book, envelope book, key book, popup book, pyramid book, wheel book, and so much more! Cathy includes lots of great other resources, too, like Early Learner Links, ESL Links, Graphic Organizer Links, Language Arts Links and more. These would be great books for storytelling!
Now, don't believe for a minute that this is elementary only, though it is great for elementary students, because I easily revised the Book in a Box to Prism in a Box for my Algebra students.
They say the hallmark of a a great activity is that it can be modified for any grade level and be just as effective. If you haven't had a chance to check it out before, you'll be glad you did.
