I was a brand new Instructional Technology Trainer with Ysleta ISD in El Paso, Texas, when I was assigned to a great project. The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus that would be visiting one of our high schools and I was fortunate to have that school in my assigned area of schools. Let me just say that I knew it would be great from the minute I saw the bus. It was exciting just to look at! And, inside, there was incredible equipment that was going to provide a world-class quality experience to the students of Bel Air High School. Along with the equipment was some of the most talented artists who, we soon learned, had a gift to teach, as well. They were cool, though, in every sense of the word! No student had to tell me because I knew it!
There was no disguising the look on the students' faces when they saw the bus. They were excited and enjoyed the tour they were given. Several of the students participated in a full day with the bus and created and recorded an original song.
Great stuff! And, on this anniversary...the day that John Lennon would have been 70, I had to stop, think about his impact...his legacy. Amazing.
